Mechanical Supervisor required in Darlington

From client sites or workshop at the head office, a Mechanical Supervisor will manage projects to ensure that all mechanical work is to specification, compliant and in line with industry and company standards. The supervisor will provide strong leadership and mentoring opportunities with the ability to lead by example.

Key Responsibilities

· Set out jobs from drawings and specifications and requisition the necessary installation materials in a timely manner to process work according to the programme

· Plan, assign and schedule the work of the mechanical team

· Accept responsibility for the proper completion of jobs

· Aid the fitters and trainee fitters in their development and efficiency

· Ensure work outside that listed on the “work schedule” is recorded in detail and reported to management

· Ensure all new entrants to site, including visitors, receive induction training

· Ensure plant and equipment is operated by trained, competent operators

· Ensure that work risk assessment including method statements, and other assessments, are prepared, reviewed, and accepted prior to work commencing

· Report all accidents as laid down in the Company’s Reporting of Accidents and Incident Procedure

· Ensure that appropriate PPE is provided to employees and that it is used correctly where appropriate

· Set a personal example by observing safe working practices and using appropriate clothing and head protection

· Ensure that COSHH and other assessments are obtained, displayed and precautions specified are implemented

· Co-ordinate with clients and site personnel

· Record installations “as built” on the contract drawings

· Be aware of the company Health & Safety regulations for working on sites

· Keep senior management informed of the levels of Health & Safety which may affect Sheers personnel both on and off site

· Check material deliveries for installation and complete paperwork fully

· Ensure all material ordered are used on site or returned to stores

· Undertake training as compliant with the Company training matrix

· Undertake commissioning duties as and when required

Essential

A minimum of 3 years experience in a supervisory capacity

Demonstrate exceptional practical site supervisory skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals

Ability to solve practical problems

Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form

Be available to work away from home for periods of time

Knowledge of the tools, equipment, and materials common to the mechanical trade.

Proficiency in the installation, repair and maintenance of all types of Mechanical system equipment and components

Ability to interpret work from instructions, sketches and CAD drawings.

Ability to construct MS/RA for engineers
