Our client is currently recruiting an SHE Officer to work in their Littleport depot.  The role will involve assisting with the efficient and effective management of the functions of Safety, Health and Environmental issues within our Precast UK operations.

The successful candidate will be tasked with assisting with the compilation and implementation of SHEQ procedures, policies and other documentation, assisting in ensuring the effective maintenance and improvement of the Integrated Management system in relation to the BS EN ISO 45001 & 14001 (2015) & 9001 standards, conduct general risk assessments throughout production site/s, conduct workplace audits and report findings of non-compliance, coordinate and accompany contractor/end user/client auditors on operational visits, visit sites when necessary to advise on safe off loading/handling of products and ensure that subcontractors are adhering to all SHEQ requirements.

You will actively promote a positive SHEQ culture whilst recommending new initiatives for continuous improvement. Have the ability to work with the HR team to help maintain the internal health and safety standards within the operational portfolio.  You will undertake Visible Felt Leadership visits with Site Management team, co-ordinate the availability of persons and facilities to ensure managers, supervisors and employees attend and complete identified Plant/H&S training in order to improve company performance as necessary, identify improvement activities and training needs and give feedback of findings to departmental managers and SHE Manager, advise Production managers/Supervisors on SHEQ compliance, monitoring staff to ensure SHEQ compliance, assist the company in reviewing and implementing all the necessary RAMS documentation in line with their third-party contract requirements, develop quality inspection and test plans, provide assistance with quality inspections and the investigation of quality non-conformances and create corrective action plans.

To qualify, you will have a minimum of 2 years previous experience within a construction/heavy manufacturing environment in a similar role, possess a NEBOSH Certificate (as a minimum) and have a membership of Institute of Safety and Health working towards (TECH IOSH or Grad IOSH)  You will be a highly motivated individual with initiative, self-confidence, with the drive and ability to work under their own direction or within a team of professionals and have excellent communication skills – both verbal and written, with the ability to communicate with individuals at all levels including clients, contractors & consultants. You must demonstrate a pro-active approach and a methodical approach to solving clients’ requirements and requests with the ability to work calmly under pressure. Its desirable that previous experience of working in a Construction Materials Manufacturing and/or High-risk manufacturing site environment, experience in all aspects of quality responsibilities, IOSH Managing Environmental Responsibilities and have an understanding and knowledge of COSHH.
